Shri Thanedar, an Indian American Congressman, has announced the establishment of a new Congressional caucus to safeguard the interests of Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains.
Thanedar said on Thursday that the Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain (HBSJ) American Congressional caucus will be formally founded on Friday.
The caucus would serve as a forum for encouraging debate, developing understanding, and increasing awareness about these groups’ special needs and problems.
Its goal is to prevent religious prejudice and promote religious liberty for Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains.
It would also guarantee that Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain opinions are accurately represented and included in policy deliberations.
The caucus will address cultural misconceptions, encourage interfaith communication and cooperation, and support activities that promote the well-being, education, and empowerment of Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain Americans.
According to a press release, Thanedar thinks that an inclusive America is a stronger America.
A congressional caucus is a group of members of the United States Congress who get together to work on shared legislative goals.
